Mindset: Leverage the Link Between Self-Image and Worthiness of Your Goal
An important fact to consider is that your self-image determines your behavior. Your self-perception at this moment will determine what you’ll do after you complete this lesson. If you see yourself as frumpy and out of shape, you’re going to act that way, reinforcing that image by your actions. It’s a vicious cycle. You feel bad about yourself, so you mistreat yourself. You mistreat yourself, then feel worse about yourself. It goes on and on. You can break this “shame spiral.” Every time you exercise, you have a mental, physical and emotional shift. At least for an hour or so after the workout, you feel much more healthy and fit.
But another thing you can do is improve the way you dress. Don’t wait until you lose all the weight you want to lose before you start dressing better. If you dress well, that will shift your self-image. That will help you see yourself as someone worthy of the actions you need to take to reach your weight loss goal.
